Happiness vs. Pleasure

What is the difference between happiness and pleasure? I came across this question recently and it really got me thinking. There is surely a difference between the two, but what makes happiness, happiness and pleasure, pleasure?

In my opinion, happiness and pleasure are on two different sides of the spectrum.

Happiness is a feeling that is achieved in hopes of spreading the feeling. When you’re happy, you want the people around you to be happy as well. Happiness is a feeling that is meant to be contagious. It is not only a feeling that you want to have, but also one that you want the people around you to have.

Pleasure on the other hand is more of a self pleasing thing. I think pleasure is achieved for one person and that person only. It is a feeling that may not be shared between numerous people, but the person may consider that okay because they feel pleasure. I feel as if the feeling of pleasure is like striving to do something for yourself and not really considering other people.

It was kind of difficult putting my thoughts into words for this post, which explains the repetition. These explanations sounded better in my head.
